![]() ![]() You could get this same quality meal at a Pizza Hut drive-through for less than $10, which makes eating their feel all the more crazy, but I had to suck it up and deal with it because the event itself was a ton of fun. A small box of pizza and a bottle of Diet Dr Pepper was worth $13 and $16 if you were to add the small bag of Lay’s chips. ![]() While there were plenty of meal options, they were all of the quality you’d get in outdoor pick-nicks and fast-food joints…priced like a fancy gourmet meal. Skipping the part of finding the restroom, I looked for food because I was pretty hungry around noon. No long lines or big confusion on where’s what for the most part. Getting into the event was safe, secure, swift and organized. Now, this took place in the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas, which a month prior to that day, I was there with my charity gang at Heroic Inner Kids for Fan Expo Dallas, so at this point, I started to pick up on things that are great, but also terrible about the venue. Now, lets first back things up just a tiny bit, because I think getting into the event and the concessions is worth mentioning. Well, you could also participate in some of them, but that’s not what I wanted to be here primarily for. The first thing I did (besides the actual first thing I do at cons/festivals…which is eat and use the restroom), I browsed the hallways, loving the view of several live tournaments happening that folks can just come up and casually watch. Part of this is because I had no idea I was granted press invitation until the week of, so things like a new recorder, was being saved for QuakeCon, but I thank the event for accepting me and showing what a wonderful time it was to be here. ![]() I was only able to show up on Saturday, which is the highlight video you see above, so there was definitely parts to the event I couldn’t be around for or didn’t have time to see. ![]()
